“Bridesmaids” and “Spy” director Paul Feig will team with horror maven Jason Blum on a scripted feature film adaptation of the Netflix unscripted series “Worst Roommate Ever”.
The project is being set up at Blumhouse with Feig directing, an easy fit as Blumhouse Television actually produces the unscripted show.
The film’s story follows a newly single woman finding a seemingly perfect gentleman to sublet the spare room in her dream home.
She soon learns his deceit goes beyond a phony name and application as she has unwittingly invited a serial squatter into her home, and he won’t leave without a fight. Feig said in a statement:
“Jason and I have been trying to find the perfect project to collaborate on for years and this story is tailor-made to deliver the scares, thrills, emotion and comedy of dread that both he and I like to entertain audiences with. In other words, I couldn’t be happier to have Jason as the best roommate ever for this film.”
Stephen Susco (“Unfriended: Dark Web”) is penning the script. Feig’s most recent film was “The School for Good and Evil” for Netflix and he has both the Amazon action-comedy film “Jackpot,” and the sequel to his 2018 dark comedy “A Simple Favor” on the way.
