Another TV series set within the world of Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” is reportedly being explored over at Warner Bros. Discovery.
EW has done a new feature piece on the first spin-off, “The Penguin,” which debuts on HBO in September.
In that feature, the show’s executive producer Dylan Clark revealed the other spin-off is being discussed, but a premise hasn’t been settled on yet:
“There’s another television exploration we’re going to do. We’re looking at this entire world as it relates to who Batman is – the antagonists around them, all the crime that has to be navigated in the city – and trying to figure out where are the areas that are best to explore.”
Previously, a series centered around the Gotham City Police Department was in the works in July 2020 with Terence Winter tapped as showrunner.
He exited and the series was scrapped in favor of an “Arkham Asylum” series which had Joe Barton linked and which had James Gunn saying it would be a part of the upcoming DC Universe. Then, the other week came the news that the “Arkham Asylum” series is no longer moving forward.
The piece indicates Reeves and Clark and internally at the studio dubbing their “The Batman” universe of project the ‘Batman Epic Crime Saga’ (BECS).
