Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige says any talk of an “Eternals” sequel is just that as there’s no movement on such a project.
Speaking with Inverse ahead of the release of “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Feige confirms to the outlet “there are no immediate plans for Eternals 2”.
The news is hardly a surprise given the poor box-office and mixed reviews for the film, the closest thing Marvel Studios had to a flop in years until last year’s double disappointments of “The Marvels” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”.
Feige does confirm though that the events of Oscar winner Chloe Zhao’s film will impact future movies though and, as the recent “Captain America: Brave New World” trailer indicated, they will finally get around to dealing with that giant Celestial that partly emerged from the Earth’s surface before it was stopped.
Feige says: “There are, and I think you’ve seen maybe in a trailer we’ve released recently, an acknowledgment of some of those events. Certain giant things came out of the ocean.”
The trailer showed battles over what’s being dubbed Tiamut Island with speculation being that there will be a battle over the resources of this new island.
No word on a potential return of Harry Styles as Eros either following his introduction in the post-credits scene of “Eternals”.
