Madelyn Cline (“Outer Banks”) and Camila Mendes (“Riverdale”) are reportedly in talks to lead the ensemble of the semi-reboot of 1997 teen horror hit “I Know What You Did Last Summer” at Sony Pictures.
In addition, Tony Award nominee Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers (“Atlanta”) and Jonah Hauer-King (“The Little Mermaid”) are also in talks for the film.
They will join Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. who have reportedly been in talks to reprise their roles from the earlier films in what’s being dubbed something akin to 2022’s “Scream” with new cast mixing with a few returnees.
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (“Do Revenge”) is directing the new project from a screenplay she co-wrote with Sam Lansky with Leah McKendrick penning the original story.
Neal Moritz, one of the producers of the original film, is producing the project. The original film pulled in $125.3 million worldwide from a $17 million budget.
Sony has already set a July 18th 2025 release for the new film.
