Oscar winner Brendan Fraser is set to play Dwight D. Eisenhower in the ticking clock D-Day thriller “Pressure” at Working Title and Studiocanal.
The true story has “All of Us Strangers” and “Ripley” star Andrew Scott playing Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg during World War II.
Stagg’s job was to inform Supreme Allied Commander Eisenhower, who supervised the invasions of France and Germany (and years before he became the U.S. President in 1953), of weather conditions that would make or break their Normandy invasion.
In the three days leading up to the event, Stagg is called upon to deliver the most consequential forecast in history – and lead to a potentially tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership.
The decision-making was critical in the fate of the war and the course of history. Olivier Award winner David Haig and Maras wrote the screenplay based on Haig’s critically lauded play.
Additional casting is underway. Anthony Maras (“Hotel Mumbai”) will direct the film which is due to start shooting in the UK in September.
