While Joe and Anthony Russo are seemingly returning to the Marvel fold for the upcoming fifth “Avengers” movie, don’t expect the same of filmmaker Jon Watts.
Watts directed the three entries in the Tom Holland-led “Spider-Man” trilogy from 2017’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” through to 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.
The other day Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige revealed that the writers on the film are “going to be delivering us a draft relatively soon” and so a director will likely soon be sought.
However, Feige was asked by CinemaBlend if Watts is staying with the franchise to which the Marvel chief said ‘no’ because of Watts’ schedule:
“We love Jon. Jon did three of the best Spider-Man films ever for us. He’s got lots of things going on now. So we’ll probably be looking for somebody else, just because he’s busy.”
Watts has two major projects already shot and due out later this year – the George Clooney and Brad Pitt-led crime comedy film “Wolfs,” and the new “Star Wars” TV series “Skeleton Crew”.
