Box-office tracking projections have been all over the place for Lee Isaac Chung’s “Twisters” film. Now, preview haul figures have come in, and it looks like the movie is on track to match the rosiest of those estimates.

The film has reportedly pulled in $10.7 million in preview cash for both Wednesday and Thursday. The movie had a regular Thursday preview starting at 5pm which made $8 million.

It also had a very limited number of sneak peeks on Wednesday where it made nearly $3 million. That puts the domestic opening weekend on track to be well into the $50 million range, possibly above $60 million.

Reviews have been good with critics and very good with audiences with the $155 million-budgeted film expected to do strong business both in the American heartland and overseas.

The film boasts Glen Powell in the male lead role and the actor has paid tribute to the original 1996 “Twister” film’s male lead, the late Bill Paxton, in a post on social media.

Powell and Paxton worked together on 2013’s “Red Wing” where they became close. The post includes a tribute to Paxton as well as a photo of the two actors together. Check it out below.

“Twisters” is currently in cinemas.

As we release Twisters into the world today, I just wanted to look up and tip my hat to the legend that is Bill Paxton.

A great friend of mine who saw poetry in the natural world.

His boots are impossible to fill, but this life is all about chasing the greats.
