A trio of projects have set filming start windows.
First up, Michael Mann has confirmed to The Los Angeles Times that he’s “deep” into writing the screenplay for his sequel to 1995 crime drama “Heat” and that he’s currently targeting a filming start at either the end of this year or early 2025.
Asked about rumors of Adam Driver and Austin Butler being cast in the project, Mann says: “I can’t talk about that.” Both actors have played it coy about any potential casting.
Next, actor Glen Powell has confirmed to Indiewire that he’ll begin work on Edgar Wright’s “The Running Man” remake in the Fall.
He says he’s “going back and forth on script stuff” in regards to the movie and adds that “the world that Edgar’s developed on this thing is just outrageous… the fact that I get to work with him right now is just so damn cool.”
Finally, “M3GAN 2.0” has officially kicked off production in New Zealand ahead of a June 2025 release. Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Jen Van Epps and Jenna Davis all return from the first film and are joined this time by Ivanna Sakhno, Timm Sharp, Aristotle Athari, and Jemaine Clement.
Gerard Johnstone returns as director for the follow-up, as does Akela Cooper who is back to write the script. New to the action this time out though is James Wan who will produce.
