A new “BioShock” game was announced way back in 2019 and since then there’s been no official word on its progress.
Regular publisher 2K Games hired Cloud Chamber, a newly formed developer (boasting several vets of the franchise) assembled to build this game specifically, and things have been pretty quiet ever since.
The only rumors so far came back in 2021 and suggested the game’s fictional city resides in 1960s Antarctica – the same decade as the first two games’ fallen scientific utopia Rapture and decades after the 1910s-set corrupt theocratic sky city of Columbia seen in “Bioshock: Infinite”.
This week, an alleged screenshot from the game has emerged via games site MP1ST who claims it originates with a visual effects artist at 2K. The photo is said to be from a “demo featured in a 2021 reel”.
There’s also a text reference in the video to ‘Parkside’ – the long rumored codename for the game in development. The shot sees a retro-futuristic tower with a miniature sun atop it while plasmid icons suggest magnetic, electrical and even possible time manipulation powers this time,
The leak follows in the wake of news last week that Cloud Chamber is “recruiting like mad” for continued development on the game. Together they’ve inspired hope for the game thany many were worried was cancelled.
The franchise’s creator Ken Levine dissolved original developer Irrational Games years ago and went elsewhere to create the upcoming game “Judas” which has already had trailers.
