After experimenting last year with a window of only about two months, AMC and Netflix have now officially come to a major deal that will see thirteen major AMC series coming to Netflix for a full year.
The deal kicks off on August 19th with AMC hoping to tap into Netflix’s massive audience as AMC+ has only 11.5 million paid subscribers compared to Netflix’s 269.6 million.
The result will hopefully be a “Breaking Bad” or “Suits”-style effect with some underseen shows getting more attention.
Fully completed series joining the streamer include “Fear the Walking Dead” (8 seasons), “Preacher” (4 seasons), “A Discovery of Witches” (3 seasons), “Into the Badlands” (3 seasons), “Kevin can F— Himself” (2 seasons), “That Dirty Black Bag” (1 season) and the recent “Monsieur Spade” (1 season).
In terms of ongoing series, the first seasons of all three recent “The Walking Dead” spin-offs – “Daryl Dixon,” “Dead City” and “The Ones Who Live” – are all making the jump but the latter two won’t join the line-up until January 13th.
The first season of both Anne Rice series, “Interview with the Vampire” and “Mayfair Witches,” are joining the streamer but not the recent highly acclaimed second season of ‘Interview’.
Rounding out the list are the first two seasons of “Dark Winds” and “Gangs of London,” and curiously only the first season of anthology series “The Terror” – not the entirely separate second season ‘Infamy’ (a third season is coming next year).
They join the eleven seasons of “The Walking Dead” already on Netflix. All the AMC series will be offered without commercials on Netflix’s standard with ads plan.
