Timothée Chalamet is set to star in “Good Time” and “Uncut Gems” co-director Josh Safdie’s new solo directorial effort “Marty Supreme” for A24.
The “Wonka” and “Dune” star will play Marty Reisman, a professional ping pong player who started playing table tennis at age 12.
Initially a hustler for prize money in Manhattan, Reisman went on to win a number of different ping pong titles at World Table Tennis Championship events.
He eventually performed a comedy table tennis routine alongside Douglas Cartland for the Harlem Globetrotters.
Safdie and Ronald Bronstein co-wrote the script and are producing alongside Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas.
The film will mark Josh Safdie’s first directorial feature effort without his brother Benny Safdie. A separate project Josh was slated to direct with Adam Sandler is currently on hold.
A24 has not yet announced a release date for “Marty Supreme”.
