Netflix has premiered a first-look photo for the film adaptation of Richard Osman’s bestselling 2020 novel “The Thursday Murder Club” which has begun production for the streamer.

Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie lead the crime-comedy which is being written and directed by “Mrs. Doubtfire” and “Adventures in Babysitting” filmmaker Chris Columbus.

The story follows a group of friends in a retirement home – an ex-spy (Mirren), ex-psychiatrist (Kingsley), ex-union activist (Brosnan) and ex-nurse (Imrie) who gather to solve murders for fun. They soon find themselves caught up in a real case.

The photo shows the key main cast along with the novel’s author. Also starring are Richard E. Grant, David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Sarah Niles and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.

Columbus, Holly Bario, Jeb Brody, Eleanor Columbus, Jo Burn and Jennifer Todd produce with the film which is a Netflix and Amblin co-production.

The project doesn’t presently have a release date.
