For a while now rumors have swirled that the “Booster Gold” TV series, set within James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe, is moving forward fast and could begin shooting relatively soon.
That has led to plenty of speculation as to who should be cast. Both Glen Powell and “The Boys” actor Anthony Starr have been fan cast, even as both have indicated they’re not interested in future superhero screen roles (aside from Batman, which Powell wants).
Today, a new rumor has cropped up over at Nexus Point News which suggests actor and comedian Kumail Nanjiani (“Eternals,” “Welcome to Chippendales”) has already been cast in the role. In addition, scooper Daniel Richtman re-shared the report on social media, suggesting some veracity.
That said, the casting hasn’t been officially confirmed at this time, and neither Nanjiani nor Gunn have publicly addressed the report or if the series is in the works.
Nanjiani did have to clarify a tweet he sent the other day and in it confirmed that he is NOT in Gunn’s currently filming “Superman” movie.
In the comics, Booster Gold is a glory-seeking showboat from the future, staging high-publicity heroics through his knowledge of historical events and use of futuristic technology.
