GameMill Entertainment has announced “The Karate Kid: Street Rumble,” a 16-bit-style side-scrolling beat ’em up game (ala. “Final Fight,” “Golden Axe,” “Streets of Rage”).
The title will redo the events of the original 1980s movie trilogy. In the game, Cobra Kai are trying to establish dominance over Miyagi-Do karate.
Playable characters Daniel LaRusso, Mr. Miyagi, Ali Mills, and Kumiko try to defeat them – using moves like the crane kick – in the ultimate underdog story.
The game campaign features twelve stages including Topanga Beach, West Valley High, Cobra Kai Dojo, and the All Valley Tournament.
Each of the stages ends in a boss fight against villains like Johnny Lawrence, John Kreese, and Terry Silver. The game can be done solo or in local co-op for up to four players.
The aim is for a “frenetic experience of constant fighting with a retro-revival feel”. The title hits PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 20th.
