Kerrice Brooks (“My Old Ass”), Bella Shepard (“Wolf Pack”) and George Hawkins (“Tell Me Everything”) will join Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti in the new “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” series for the Paramount+ service.
The series, which unfolds in the 32nd century setting seen in the latter seasons of “Star Trek: Discovery,” boasts the largest contiguous set ever constructed for a “Star Trek” series with a two-storey academic atrium.
The series will chronicle the lives of the cadets of Starfleet Academy as they train for a career onboard a starship helping preseve the United Federation of Planets. The group marks the first full year of cadets welcomed to the Academy since the institute was revived centuries after ‘The Burn’.
The show will follow the adventures of a new class of Starfleet cadets as they come of age in one of the most legendary places in the galaxy. Brooks, Shepard and Hawkins will all play some of those cadets.
They join Hunter as the captain and chancellor of the Academy and Giamatti as the season’s villain who has a sinister connection to the past of one of the cadets. This new enemy proves themselves a threat to not just the Academy, but the Federation itself.
Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau serve as co-showrunners and executive produce the series alongside executive producers Gaia Violo, Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa and John Weber.
Filming begins later this summer for Secret Hideout, Roddenberry Entertainment and CBS Studios.
