FX has announced a September 12th launch date for the second season of its Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow-led series “The Old Man” along with releasing a concept teaser trailer and a lengthy synopsis.
In the new season, former CIA agent Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges) and former FBI Assistant Director Harold Harper (John Lithgow) set out to recover Emily Chase (Alia Shawkat) after she was kidnapped by Afghan tribal leader Faraz Hamzad (Navid Negahban).
With all three men claiming her as their daughter, Emily finds herself in an identity crisis. As Chase and Harper fight their way to get to Emily, Hamzad is forced to make decisions that could endanger his family and his village.
His sister and advisor Khadija (Jacqueline Antaramian) is concerned about the path her brother has taken. Meanwhile, Zoe McDonald (Amy Brenneman) makes surprising moves after having been drawn into a new world by Chase.
Finally, Julian Carson (Gbenga Akinnagbe) is disillusioned by his former role and finds himself at a crossroads with a path he hadn’t imagined for himself.
The series, based on the bestselling novel by Thomas Perry, has been adapted for television by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine. The show was renewed just three episodes into its first season run.
