After being known as that Untitled Brad Pitt Formula One Movie, then Formula One, then Apex, it appears they have finally settled on a title for the movie. Imagination clearly running riot in the Apple Movies marketing department, as the movie will now be called F1.

Oscar winner Pitt stars as a former driver who returns to Formula 1 to race alongside teammate Damson Idris (Snowfall) on the fictional APXGP Formula 1 team.

The movie will also star Oscar nominee Kerry Condon, Oscar winner Javier Bardem, Emmy winner Tobias Menzies, and Emmy nominee Sarah Niles, with Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.

Well… that is certainly an poster.

Formula 1 is the pinnacle of world motorsport, and many attempts have been made over the years to get a movie set in this world off the ground. However, the over-protective rights holders always seemed to be a stumbling block.

This forced movies that were originally due to be set in F1, such as Renny Harlin’s Driven, to settle with taking place in other, lesser, racing formats.

This time around, with new rights holders in Formula 1 embracing the opportunity, filming is taking place at actual Grand Prix race weekends and deep inside the F1 community.

Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton are the producers. Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) directs and co-produces.

Funding is from Bruckheimer Films, Plan B Entertainment, and Dawn Apollo Films with Apple Original Films as distributor. A lot of funding, according to rumors. With the action being set on location at real F1 races across the whole planet, the budget is said to be hitting $300 million.

Warner Bros. Pictures will provide a theatrical and IMAX release.

It will debut internationally on June 25th 2025, and then in America and Canada on June 27th 2025.

A sneak peek which may, or may not, be a teaser is expected to air during the British Grand Prix on Sunday.
