Back in May came the official announcement that Nicolas Cage will return as his “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” character of Spider-Man Noir for a live-action series about his character.

Amazon Prime Video is behind “Spider-Man Noir” which will follow an older, grizzled superhero in 1930s New York City.

Here he’s an aging and down on his luck private investigator during the Great Depression, forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero,

Now, DanielRPK reports that Brendan Gleeson has joined the cast as a villain. Which villain is not clear as in the comics Noir has taken on several redesigned versions of classic Spider-Man villains like Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and Vulture.

The show will be set in its own universe and one change from the comics is that the character is not expected to be some Peter Parker variant, he’ll have his how identity.

Steve Lightfoot (“Hannibal,” “The Punisher”) serves as co-showrunner alongside Oren Uziel (“The Lost City”) as writer/co-showrunner. Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and former Sony studio chief Amy Pascal all executive produce.
