The other day, Marvel’s head of television Brad Winderbaum teased the company’s upcoming animated series “Eyes of Wakanda” on the official Marvel podcast.

Speaking about this “Black Panther” spin-off, he said it’s the series that “more than any other show we’re doing in animation, ties directly into the MCU”.

“Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler produces the series, which is being directed by longtime storyboard artist Todd Harris, that explores Wakandan history.

Winderbaum spoke with high praise for the series: “The action is insane and the storytelling is fantastic. It’s both about the history of Wakanda, but also expands into the greater MCU at different time periods. If you’re a fan of the movies, I think this show is going to be a real treat.”

Cut to today and The Cosmic Circus (via CBM is reporting that Axis Studios (“Love, Death & Robots,” “Destiny 2”) is involved with the series. The outlet adds that they expect the show will be fully CG animated and is described as “very fast-paced, fluid, exhilarating, and very exciting”.

It’s also suggested the series will incorporate “Greek Gods and an Iron Fist” as well as introduce The Horde, effectively giant galactic locusts who invade and consume planets. The pests have usually been tied to the Eternals in the comics.

None of that new report has been confirmed in any way at present, so take it with a big grain of salt.
