A tentative start of production date of November 1st has reportedly been set for Marvel Studios’ “Blade” film, even as the film has yet to settle on a new director.
At last report, Eric Pearson is penning the latest draft of the film and seems to have finally come up with a script that people are onboard with.
He marks the sixth writer to have a go at the script following some impressive alum including Michael Green (“Logan”), Beau DeMayo (“X-Men ’97”), Nic Pizzolatto (“True Detective”), Stacy Osei-Kuffour (HBO’s “Watchmen”) and Michael Starrbury (“The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete”).
A director would be the next step following the exit of Yann Demange recently. He took over when Bassam Tariq (“Mogul Mowgli”) abruptly called it quits two years ago on the project before filming was slated to begin.
Overall it has been five years since the project was announced with star Mahershala Ali showing up on stage to promote it. Since then the film has become infamous for delays ranging from industry-wide issues like COVID and strikes, to scripting problems.
Ali and Mia Goth remain attached to star in the project which presently has a late 2025 release date.
