Actor/musician Donald Glover (aka. Childish Gambino) has released the trailer for “Bando Stone & The New World,” a new film he directed which is getting an IMAX theatrical release.
A shortened version of the trailer screened during the BET Awards, but the full take has been posted to YouTube via his own account.
In the trailer, he plays Bando Stone – a famous musician who wanders through a world devoid of people before he happens upon a woman and her child.
Together, they make their way through a lush post-apocalyptic world filled with giant squids, aggressive cassowaries, and weird reality-changing lights in the sky.
The film was obviously shot in Hawaii, with one scene visibly using a very familiar location on the island used in such movies as “Jurassic Park” and “Pearl Harbor”.
The film is tied into his new album, also titled “Bando Stone in the New World,” which will mark the final work he releases under his Childish Gambino moniker.
The first single from the album, “Lithonia,” hits July 2nd. His New World tour commences August 11th and will fun for six months through to a final performance in Australia in February.
No word on when the “Bando Stone in the New World” film will get a release.
