“Stranger Things” and “A Quiet Place: Day One” actor Joseph Quinn is stepping into some big shoes when he takes on the role of Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four”.
The first film in 2005 memorably cast Chris Evans in the role with the actor stealing the show with a fun performance and a hunky appeal.
Michael B. Jordan took on the part in the 2015 film reboot which is mostly forgotten these days, but most of the actors have done fine in the years since.
Like Quinn is presently, both Evans and Jordan were known actors with several roles at the time they were hired, but they really broke through in the years after the role.
Speaking with Men’s Health Magazine, Quinn was asked if he’d gotten in touch with either of the actors after being cast. He says:
“I haven’t gotten in touch with them – maybe I should. It’s important to claim these opportunities as your own. I think they both did incredible jobs, and I’m definitely aware of how much this role means to a lot of people, and how successful they were in portraying him. I think it’s important to come at this with reverence for the people that have played it before, but an intention to make it one’s own. We’ll see.”
Asked if he’d started training for the role yet, he says:
“I’ve been training for a little while now. We’ve got another few weeks, and I’ve got a wonderful trainer named Tim who’s brilliant, and is making me do all the things I don’t want to do. We’re not going for anything too enormous, physically, he just needs to look the part, and slowly, slowly, we’re getting there.”
Quinn will be be joined by Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm/the Thing in the project which will begin filming next month.
“The Fantastic Four” releases in cinemas on July 25th 2025.
