More live-action “One Piece” second season casting has been announced by Netflix, including one of the big early baddies of the franchise.
Callum Kerr (“Monarch”) has joined the cast as Smoker, a Marine vice admiral and the Commander of the G-5 Marine base in Loguetown – the birth place of legendary pirate king Gol D. Roger.
The recurring adversary made a brief appearance (albeit with no face shown) in the final moments of the first season and is a key part of the final arc of the East Blue saga of the manga.
Also joining are Julia Rehwald (“Star Wars Young Jedi Adventures”) as Loguetown’s Master Chief Petty Officer Tashigi, Rob Colletti (“The Many Saints of Newark”) as Drum Kingdom monarch Wapo, and Ty Keogh (“24 Hours To Live”) as Sakura kingdom monarch Dalton.
Production on the new season gets underway in June in South Africa and runs through to January ahead of a 2025 airing. Matt Owens and Joe Tracz are co-showrunners and executive producers on Season Two.
