Rosario Dawson, André Holland, Sonoya Mizuno and Ann Dowd are joining the voice cast of the Netflix animated series “Terminator Zero” premiering August 29th.
Dawson plays Kokoro, an advanced AI which is Japan’s answer to Skynet and if brought online would have the same amount of power.
Holland plays Malcolm Lee, a genius computer programmer and father of three who is haunted by prophetic nightmares of an apocalyptic future.
Mizuno is Eiko, a resistance fighter sent back in time to stop Malcolm from launching Kokoro. Dowd will play The Prophet, the philosophical figurehead for the human resistance.
They join the previously announced Timothy Olyphant as the Terminator. The series unfolds over two time periods – 1997 when Skynet first goes online, and 2022 when the war has been raging for decades.
Caught between the future and this past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet.
As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he is hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future which forever alters the fate of his three children.
Production IG is handling the animation for the eight-episode series which comes from showrunner Mattson Tomlin (“The Batman II”). David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger executive produce.
