FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki has revealed that there has been ‘interest’ in a screen adaptation of 2022’s celebrated fantasy RPG title “Elden Ring”.
Created in collaboration with “Game of Thrones” author George R. R. Martin, the game unfolds in a world called The Lands Between.
Players take on the role of one of the Tarnished, individuals whose ancestors were exiled years ago. When the Elden Ring is shattered, they get the chance to return and conquer the land they were once banished from.
Miyazaki, out talking up the recently released DLC for the game, says he has no issue with someone doing an adaptation. He tells The Guardian:
“I don’t see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie for example. But I don’t think myself, or From Software, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium. So that’s where a very strong partner would come into play. We’d have to build a lot of trust and agreement on whatever it is we’re trying to achieve, but there’s interest, for sure.”
The talk comes as the game has been updated with the 1.12.2 patch designed to make the DLC easier after a wave of complaints about its difficulty.
FromSoftware announced this month that the game has shipped over 25 million copies since its release a little over two years ago.
