Two very different British series based on best-selling books and both coming to streamers have just launched their trailers this morning.
First up is “Rivals” which is set in the fictional English county of Rutshire. In the series Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex Hassell) and Lord Tony Baddingham (David Tennant) have a rivalry that seeps into the world of independent television.
Aidan Turner, Victoria Smurfit, Katherine Parkinson, Nafessa Williams, Danny Dyer and more co-star in the eight-episode series which will launch on Hulu in the U.S. this Fall and to Disney+ ‘Star’ section in other countries around that time.
Next is the six-part “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” based on the young adult mystery crime debut novel by Holly Jackson.
The story follows an investigation carried out by seventeen-year old true crime enthusiast Pippa “Pip” Fitz-Amobi, a high school student in a fictional Buckinghamshire town.
She investigates a five-year-old murder-suicide case involving the murder of popular student Andie and the suicide of the perpetrator Sal under the guise of a school project.
Her objectives are to exonerate Sal, who she is convinced was falsely accused, and to uncover the true perpetrator, who Pip believes is still at large.
Emma Myers and Zain Iqbal take on the lead roles in the series which will launch July 1st in the UK on BBC iPlayer and on Stan in Australia and ThreeNow in New Zealand before coming to Netflix in the U.S. on August 1st.
