AMC has officially renewed its acclaimed adaptation of Anne Rice’s “Interview With the Vampire” for a third season.
The order comes just two days ahead of the show’s second season finale releasing on AMC+ prior to its linear debut on TV on Sunday.
Recviews for the second season have been astonishing. It sits at an 88/100 on Metacritic, the equal highest rating for a TV series this year. On Rotten Tomatoes it sits at a stunning 98% with an average rating of 8.9/10. Both are improvements on the first season (80 on MC, 98% & 8.2/10 on RT).
The first two seasons adapted the original ‘Interview’ novel, with the third looking to adapt “The Vampire Lestat”. Elements from books further down the line have also already worked their way into the narrative. Here’s the third season’s official synopsis from AMC:
“Resentful of the perfunctory portrayal in the trashy bestseller Interview With The Vampire, the Vampire Lestat sets his story straight in a way only the Vampire Lestat can — by starting a band and going on tour.
Gabrielle. Nicholas. Magnus. Marius. Those Who Must Be Kept. They join Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed and others we can’t tell you about yet on a sexy pilgrimage across space, time and trauma. No auto-tuning. No trigger warnings. All feels amplified.”
The series stars Jacob Anderson as Louis, Sam Reid as Lestat, Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy, Assad Zaman as Armand, Delainey Hayles as Claudia and Ben Daniels as Santiago.
Rolin Jones serves as showrunner, executive-producing alongside Mark Johnson, Mark Taylor and Christopher Rice.
