Joseph Fiennes and Natascha McElhone are set to play the parents of Sherlock Holmes in Guy Ritchie’s upcoming “Young Sherlock” series.

Fiennes and McElhone will play Silas and Cordelia Holmes, respectively, in the series. The project is being led by Fiennes’ real-life nephew Hero Fiennes Tiffin who just worked with Ritchie on “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare”.

In the series Sherlock’s father is a scientist, explorer and self-made businessman, while his mother is described as a devoted mother, artist and matriarch of the Holmes family.

The series is inspired by Andy Lane’s acclaimed book series and follows a 19-year-old Sherlock who is a “disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed” genius.

He becomes caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University that threatens his freedom, so he dives into first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline and uncovers a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life.

Ritchie is set to direct and executive produce the eight-episode series which will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Simon Kelton, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Maxwell, Dhana Gilbert, Colin Wilson and Marc Resteghini also executive produce.
