“Spider-Man: Homecoming” trilogy director Jon Watts has become attached to direct the film “Murder 101” which has landed at Amazon MGM Studios.
Watts, Dianne McGunigle, Stephanie Lydecker, Carrie Lieberman and Conal Byrne will produce the film based on the KT Studios and iHeartPodcasts true crime podcast of the same name.
Set in a small Tennessee town, the podcast told a story about how a group of high school students and their teacher Alex Campbell profiled a local serial killer. It led to his capture.
Watts has been busy in recent years – he directed and executive produced the Jeff Bridges-led FX series “The Old Man” which has a second season on the way.
This Fall, Watts has two works hitting the screen – the George Clooney and Brad Pitt-led dark comedy “Wolfs” which he directed for Apple and Sony, and the Disney+ series “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” which he created, directed and executive produced.
No word as to when production of this will move forward.
