Michael Fassbender is confirmed for the lead role in “The Agency,” George Clooney’s U.S. TV series remake of French political drama series “The Bureau” at Showtime.
The series follows Martin (Fassbender), a covert CIA agent ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station.
When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his identity and his mission are pitted against his heart; hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue.
101 Studios and Showtime/MTV Entertainment are backing the project which Fassbender, Clooney and Grant Heslov all executive produce.
Joe Wright will direct and executive produce, with Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth writing all ten episodes and executive producing.
The project, which was once titled “The Department,” already has a straigh-to-series order and will premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime later this year. Paramount+ has also announced price increases starting in August.
