Disney & Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” looks set to once again beat even the loftiest expectations placed upon it. The film is reportedly on track for a further $100 million domestically in its second weekend, a drop of just 35% from its debut last week.
That’s the best second weekend for an animated movie of all time, the best second weekend since “Barbie” took in $93 million in its second weekend nearly a full year ago, and the seventh best second weekend ever domestically.
Current extreme temperatures and weather conditions are said to be helping drive up attendance numbers. Outside the U.S., the film has reportedly earned $724 million to date – already the highest-grossing movie of 2024 worldwide.
Focus Features opened the Jeff Nichols-directed “The Bikeriders” which came in third place with a respectable $10 million, not so well was the Russell Crowe-led “The Exorcism” which came seventh with $2.4 million.
“Thelma” opened to ninth place with $2.2 million, “Kinds of Kindness” did $70,000 per screen averages (best of the year so far),
