A very busy period for actor Ralph Macchio has come to an end.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original “The Karate Kid” film this weekend, the actor posted a tweet in which he confirms that both the final season of Netflix’s “Cobra Kai” and the new “The Karate Kid” film have both wrapped production.
Macchio reprised his iconic role as Daniel LaRusso from the original “The Karate Kid” in both the show and new film, though how they worked out the scheduling isn’t clear.
“Cobra Kai” began filming its final season a year ago but was halted due to the strikes. It resumed production in January. Clocking in at 15 episodes, it will be released in three parts on July 18th, November 28th and sometime in early 2025.
Meanwhile the new “The Karate Kid” only began production in the Spring and so has been completed quite fast. “American Born Chinese” breakout Ben Wang takes on the title role alongside franchise returnees Macchio and Jackie Chan.
Shaunette Renee-Wilson, Joshua Jackson, Ming-Na Wen, and Aramis Knight and Wyatt Oleff co-star in the new Jonathan Entwistle-directed film which will be released in cinemas on May 30th 2025.
