Not that long ago came the news that Ralph Ineson had been cast as the cosmic villain Galactus in the upcoming “The Fantastic Four” film for Marvel Studios.
In the comics, Galactus is a planet-devouring force of nature and is depicted as a gigantic humanoid with signature purple armor and helmet. The entity consumes planets to sustain his life force – operating without regard to the morality or judgments of mortal beings.
He was previously done on the big screen in “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,” albeit only shown in the form of a gigantic spatial cloud, so there’s little point in reference for an actor to study beyond the original comics material.
In a new interview with Cinema Blend, Ineson says his son has been schooling him on the character’s lore:
“It’s great. I’m not someone who knows the whole lore of Marvel. My son is an expert. He’s 25, so he’s been schooling me for the last couple of months. He’s been teaching me all of that. Yeah, I got the part, read the script and was like ‘That’s cool as f—.’ And now the more I’ve understood about the universe [and] the way it all fits together, I’m like ‘Yeah, that’s really cool as f—.’
Ineson joins a cast that includes Perdro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as John Storm/Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach Ben Grimm/The Thin, Julia Garner as a female Silver Surfer and both Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich in undisclosed roles.
Matt Shakman is directing the 1960s-set feature which is casting up ahead of a planned shoot in England. It opens in cinemas on July 25th 2025.
