Judging by the 1st trailer, The Killer’s Game will be 2% exposition and 98% Dave Bautista killing people. I am more than OK with that.
Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) is one of the world’s best hitmen, unbeknownst to his partner Maize (Sofia Boutella). One day, to his dismay, Joe is diagnosed with a terminal illness. With just months to live, he has his handler Marianna (Pom Klementieff) put out a hit on him, planning to go out in a blaze of glory.

Only one problem: he’s not sick after all. Now, it’s up to Flood to fight off the world’s best hitmen (Terry Crews, Scott Adkins, Drew McIntyre, Lee Hoon, and many many MANY others) in a desperate bid to save the peaceful existence he thought he was about to lose. With a terrified Maize by his side, Joe Flood embarks on a delightfully bloody war against the entire hitman underworld.
Lead star Bautista has stood out from his wrestler-turned-actor peers by his dedication to the craft. His willingness to seek out challenging roles has won over his naysayers, proving to the world that he’s more than a 6-pack….That being said, seeing Bautista murder people nonstop for 90 minutes sounds like a rollicking good time.
The trailer for The Killer’s Game knows its audience. At nearly 3 minutes, it divulges the majority of the film’s plot, is filled with cliché dialogue, and even gives away several characters’ deaths. But I don’t care. This trailer knows you’re there for the action, and it doesn’t disappoint. With enough style, brutality, and blood to make Wes Craven blush, this pulpy C-tier action flick promises just enough fun to earn my money on opening night.
The Killer’s Game is directed by J. J. Perry and will be released theatrically on September 13th 2024 by Lionsgate, starring an ensemble cast led by Dave Bautista.
