“Orphan Black,” “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” and “Perry Mason” star Tatiana Maslany is set to both produce and star in the pilot episode of the dark comedy series “The Nightbeast” for Amazon MGM Studios.
The series follows a young mother who is unsatisfied with her perfect suburban life, so she begins an affair with the boogeyman in her son’s closet – a surprisingly sexy man called the Nightbeast.
This harmless affair she thought to be a figment of her imagination begins to have unexpected consequences, as her two worlds increasingly begin to collide.
The project is helmed by Leah Rachel (“Chambers”) and Travis Jackson (“Hemlock Grove”) with executive producers including Peter Warren, Justin Levy, Fred Berger, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Kristen Campo and director Jamie Babbit.
Meanwhile former “Dexter” star Jennifer Carpenter has scored a recurring role in the second season of the “Yellowstone” prequel series “1923”.
Carpenter will portray Mamie Fossett, a highly capable U.S. Deputy Marshall who serves warrants and makes arrests with confidence ahead of her time.
Filming on the second and final season of the Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren-led series begins next month and runs through September.
