Shawn Levy’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” is expected to have the year’s biggest box-office opening, and in these few weeks leading up to its release discussion has turned to other Marvel heroes within their orbit.

A new feature piece on the movie for Total Film (via Games Radar) has revealed new stills and quotes from those involved.

One question asked is who would they like to see Deadpool team up with next following Wolverine in this film. Levy has an obvious answer to that one:

“Boy, I’d sure love to see Deadpool and Spidey. That’s a movie I’d love to make. I feel like Tom Holland would run circles around everyone else.”

With the article came some new stills as well, one of which has Deadpool and Wolverine standing alongside a number of characters in the background (albeit slightly blurry) who seemed to be pruned Variants from the timeline.

It’s clear two of them are Toad and Juggernaut from the “X-Men” films, but a third one appears to be a bit of a deep cut – namely the version of Blade from the 2006 TV series “Blade: The Series” starring Sticky Fingaz.

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds co-starred in “Blade: Trinity” and has on the record spoken about how he didn’t get along with then current Blade star Wesley Snipes.

Thus this potential appearance, which hasn’t been confirmed in any way, has multiple levels of humour to it – especially now, considering Marvel’s difficulty getting the new “Blade” going.

The talk and photos come as it has been confirmed the film will get a release in mainland Chinese cinemas on July 26th – same day as it hits the United States.

Additionally, and despite being Marvel’s most adult franchise, the film will reportedly incur only ‘minimal cuts’ for its China release. Both stars and the film’s director will visit China on July 2nd to promote the film.

Those cuts are said to be due to violence, blood and gore, and language” and don’t impact the film’s storytelling.

In the new issue, Reynolds, Jackman, director Shawn Levy and more tell us all about the superhero event of the year.
