Since Madame Web arrived with barely a ripple, and left behind only a crater, Dakota Johnson has been famously snippy about the whole project and the whole concept of working on comic book movies. She started to show signs even as early as the press tour.

Now Russell Crowe was asked about her negative comments. Crowe starred in Thor: Love And Thunder and will soon be appearing in Kraven The Hunter.

As part of a special GQ profile, he was asked about her comments and her apparent struggle. He was then asked about his experiences.

He said:

“I don’t want to make any comments to what anybody else might have said or what their experience is, but… you’re bringing out the impish quality of my humour. [Laughs.] You’re telling me you signed up for a Marvel movie, and some f—– universe for cartoon characters… and you didn’t get enough pathos?

Not quite sure how I can make this better for you. It’s a gigantic machine, and they make movies at a certain size…. These are jobs. You know: here’s your role, play the role. If you’re expecting this to be some kind of life-changing event, I just think you’re here for the wrong reasons.”

Trust an Aussie to be so blunt but accurate.

Madame Web was another car crash production of the Turd Factory formerly known as SPUMC, from all the usual suspects over there such as Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Tom Rothman. It just about scraped $100 million at the box office against a budget of about the same.
