When we reviewed Rebel Moon: Parts 1 and 2 we weren’t all that positive. In a nutshell, Rebel Moon is Seven Samurai, A Bug’s Life, The Three Amigos, and the list goes on and on and on. The downside with Rebel Moon is that it was made by Zack Snyder. The man is worshipped by some, and hated by others.

No matter how you feel about Snyder, we can all agree that he uses far too much slow-motion. Also, he can be good if he’s not writing his own scripts. Rebel Moon is one of his own scripts. Let’s just say there is more style over substance.

Rebel Moon was one of the biggest hits on Netflix, but it was critically panned. Even the most hardcore Snyder fans had trouble liking it. Well, the good news is, there’s a longer Snyder Cut on the way. Netflix has released some details and some new images.

I had to look around online to find out the running length and, it’s not confirmed, but it’s looking around the 6-hour mark for both together. That would make about an hour added to each part. There is a small hope though, the director’s cuts will be R-rated, instead of the PG-13 of the original cuts.

Chalice of Blood (as A Child Of Fire will be known in this form) and Chapter 2 – The Scargiver will be rated R for strong bloody violence and gore throughout, strong sexuality, nudity, and some language. Now I kind of want to see it out of curiosity, but honestly, 6 hours is going to be pushing my patience.

Rebel Moon – A New IP Is Created

Snyder said that he wanted a new IP to be launched with Rebel Moon. He was hoping “a massive IP and a universe that can be built out” from the first two movies. How is that looking Zack? Are there action figures of all the characters? Where can I get a Rebel Moon bath towel?

Didn’t he say the same thing about Army of the Dead? There was a spin-off, wasn’t there? I honestly can’t remember. I do remember how awful Army of the Dead was and the Snyder fans thinking it was the best thing since sliced bread.

The press release for the new Director’s Cuts says:

Delve further into the mythology and madness of Zack Snyder’s epic sci-fi saga in the viciously sexier, bloodier world of Rebel Moon — Chapter One: Chalice of Blood and Rebel Moon – Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness.

The only madness about Rebel Moon was how much Netflix spent on it. I honestly can’t see any of us reviewing the new versions. Is anyone here into sado-masochism and wants to do it for us?

Rebel Moon: Chapter 1 – Chalice of Blood and Rebel Moon: Chapter 2 – The Scargiver will be streaming on Netflix on 2nd Aug.

Definitely not light sabers.
