Lumina, a film that follows the surreal journey of a group of friends trying to find one of their own who disappeared suddenly during a nighttime swim, takes its inspiration from many sources. Alien abductions, Area 51, government conspiracies — it’s all a part of the story of Patricia, Delilah, and George as they help Alex search for his beloved Tatiana who disappeared into the night sky.

The latest promotional clip for Lumina features the supposed “real testimonies of alien abductees” like Tatiana, who often are taken multiple times. In the film, which releases on July 12, 2024, none of the friends who join the search party are sure what to think. Why was Tatiana taken? How much does her family know? And why is Alex so convinced that she’s still alive and in need of their help?

The official Lumina synopsis tells of a story following “four friends desperately searching for their abductee friend in a DUMB [deep underground military base]. Whether they find their friend or not in the deserts of the US to the sands of the Sahara, will change their lives forever.” The movie stars Andrea Tivadar, Sidney Nicole Rogers, Ken Lawson, Eleanor Williams, and Rupert Lazarus, with a special appearance by Eric Roberts.

Earlier trailers for the film focus on the surreal nature of the adventure the friends embark upon as well as specific relationships in the movie. Not only do we see the connection between Alex and Tatiana that anchors the story in trailer number two; there’s also a humorous and endearing love-hate relationship between George and Patricia that’s evident in the third trailer.

Make no mistake, Lumina is not your average sci-fi thriller! Those who join the journey to rescue Tatiana will find themselves on a surreal journey across the deserts of Earth and beyond, wondering what’s real and what’s a dream. Are the enemies alien or military… or both? If you’re intrigued, enter the giveaway to win a space rover featured in the film or one of several cash prizes, and be sure to check out Lumina when it hits theaters on July 12, 2024.
