Derek Connolly, the screenwriter who has worked on the “Jurassic World” movies, “Kong: Skull Island” and “Detective Pikachu,” has been set to pen the script for the currently untitled Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover project at Paramount Pictures.
Chris Hemsworth leads the cast of the crossover feature whcih will bring together two of Hasbro’s biggest toy lines. The film will see the Autobots and heroic Joes battle the dastardly Decepticons and terrorist organization COBRA.
Such a team-up has happened in comic books, but has never happened on screen before – either on film or TV. The first hint of the crossover came in a scene on “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” which saw Anthony Ramos’ character getting a job offer from the Joes.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto and Don Murphy will produce while Steven Spielberg is executive producing.
Connolly recently did script work on Sony and Nintendo’s upcoming Wes Ball-directed adaptation of classic video game “The Legend of Zelda”.
