Amazon Prime Video has unveiled the first trailer for “My Spy: The Eternal City,” the upcoming sequel to its 2020 family action comedy “My Spy”.
The first film followed JJ (Dave Bautista), a hardened CIA operative who found himself at the mercy of precocious nine-year-old Sophie (Chloe Coleman) after being sent undercover to surveil her family.
In the new film, Sophie is now a teenager and convinces JJ to chaperone her school choir trip to Italy.
They both unwittingly end up pawns in an international terrorist plot targeting CIA Chief David Kim (Ken Jeong) and his son, Collin (Taeho K) – the latter being Sophie’s best friend.
Kristen Schaal, Anna Faris, Craig Robinson and Flula Borg are among the co-stars.
Peter Segal (“Get Smart”) returned to direct from his script written with Erich and Jon Hoeber (“Transformers: Rise of the Beasts”), having also penned the story alongside the duo.
The film is slated for a global rollout on Prime Video on July 18th.
