Beloved and acclaimed animated series “Gravity Falls” could be making a comeback.
Meredith Roberts, the executive vice president of Disney Branded Television, tells The Direct that they have had talks with series creator Alex Hirsch and bringing the show back is a possibility:
“You know, we’re in conversations with Alex. He’s about to publish a book with Disney on his project. And we also do some shorts. So never say never.”
The series ran from 2012-2014 on the Disney Channel for two seasons of twenty episodes each. Hirsch made it clear in 2015 that the show’s end was “100% my choice”, and not one of the network or studio cancelling it.
At the time he said he “always designed Gravity Falls to be a finite series about one epic summer- a series with a beginning, middle, and end.”
The series followed Dipper Pines (voiced by Jason Ritter) and his twin sister, Mabel (voiced by Kristen Schaal), as they spend a summer with their great-uncle Stan (voiced by Hirsch) investigating mysteries in a mysterious Oregon town full of paranormal incidents.
Since its end, Hirsch has published several books set in the universe. The entire run of “Gravity Falls” is available on the Disney+ service.
