AMC has officially handed out a series order for a third show in its Immortal Universe based on the works of Anne Rice.
Titled “The Talamasca,” the six-episode series hails from co-showrunners Mark Lafferty and John Lee Hancock and is slated to begin shooting this Fall in Manchester ahead of a 2025 airing.
The new series is said to marry a “procedural spy thriller with the supernatural”. It revolves around the men and women who are part of the eponymous secret society, one responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, werewolves and other creatures scattered around the globe.
The group was briefly teased the other week via the character Raglan James (played by Justin Kirk) in an episode of the currently airing second season of “Interview with the Vampire”. That character first appears in the Rice’s fourth vampire book “The Tale of the Body Thief” and is a former Talamasca.
The other Immortal Universe series, “The Mayfair Witches,” is currently filming its second season in Dublin. This new series could serve as a potential bridging series between the other two series.
The eight-episode second season of “Interview with the Vampire” finishes its run on June 30th. On Metacritic it is tying with “Baby Reindeer” on 88/100 for the best TV series of the year so far. On Rotten Tomatoes it is pulling in a stunning 98% (8.3/10) score.
