Nearly thirty years after they starred together as sisters, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are in talks to reprise their roles in a sequel to the 1998 supernatural fantasy tale “Practical Magic” at Warner Bros. Pictures.
The pair starred as the Owens sisters, women blessed with the supernatural gift but cursed by their matriarch, who get wrapped in a coverup after Bullock (unintentionally) drugs and kills Kidman’s abusive ex-boyfriend (Goran Višnjić) – forcing them to reanimate his corpse.
Griffin Dunne directed the film based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Alice Hoffman, the title has become a minor cult hit in the years since.
Akiva Goldsman will write the screenplay for the new movie, which Bullock, Kidman, and Denise Di Novi are expected to produce.
This news follows Sunday’s announcement that the film is now available digitally for purchase/rental and streaming on Max.
Max previously attempted to develop a spin-off TV series based on the prequel novel “Rules of Magic,” but that never eventuated.
