Bridgerton Season 3 Recap So Far
This section contains spoilers for Bridgerton season 3 part 1.
This season of Bridgerton is a busy one so far, with many members of the Ton trying to navigate yet another courting season. Colin has returned from yet another summer abroad, and his suave confidence has nearly every young lady wooed. Penelope Featherington is apprehensive of Colin’s new persona, especially after overhearing his blatant disinterest in courting her last season, but nevertheless they make amends and he offers to help her find a suitor. Tired of being a wallflower, Penelope takes him up on his offer and makes a splash after giving herself a makeover.
However, once word spreads of their arrangement, she finds herself on the periphery once again. But despite the fact that the ton decides to ostracize her, she catches the eye of one of the season’s most eligible bachelors, Lord Debling (Sam Phillips). He nearly proposes, but after seeing the way she and Colin look at each other, decides against it, prompting Colin to finally confess his feelings for her. Things get steamy between them in their carriage ride home, and he suggests they get married.
Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) enters society for the first time and is crowned the Diamond of the season by Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), who seems oddly uninspired and unengaged this season. The Queen offers up a dashing suitor for Francesca, but despite the Queen’s best efforts, the young Bridgerton seems to be forging a deeper bond with Lord John Stirling (Victor Alli), with whom she shares a few happy moments of silence, solace, and music.
Meanwhile, Eloise (Claudia Jessie) is still hurting after Lady Whistledown’s scathing take of her budding relationship with a commoner last season, and the reveal that it was her best friend, Penelope, who wrote it. Without her best friend by her side, Eloise has sought companionship in Cressida Cowper (Jessica Madsen) for the season, much to her own surprise.
Lady Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) might be finding a love match of her own this season as Lady Danbury’s (Adjoa Andoh) dashing brother Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis) arrives unexpectedly, sweeping her off her feet for the first time since her husband’s death.
Finally, the Mondrich family finds themselves thrust into society after their son unexpectedly inherits a title as the Baron of Kent as well as all of the expectations and riches that come with it. Will Mondrich (Martins Imhangbe) struggles the most with this change, as he isn’t quite ready to give up working at his club and the simpler life his family once led.
