“Aquaman,” “Watchmen” and “The Matrix Resurrections” star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will lead the cast of the “Man on Fire” TV series in the works at Netflix.
The eight-episode series is an adaptation of the book series that inspired Tony Scott’s iconic 2004 film starring Denzel Washington and the lesser-known 1987 Italian feature with Scott Glenn.
Kyle Killen (“Halo,” “Fear Street”) is on board as writer, executive producer and showrunner of the series, which will be based on the first two of the five-book run by A.J. Quinnell (aka Philip Nicholson).
Once a high functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary, known for surviving even the most desolate of situations, Creasy (Mateen) is now plagued with intense PTSD.
Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But, before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever
New Regency Productions and Chernin Entertainment are producing with Abdul-Mateen II, Steven Caple Jr., Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Bill McGoldrick, Juan Alfonso, Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer executive producing.
