After a year of being battered by bad headlines, Microsoft’s Xbox gaming division needed today’s Xbox Games Showcase presentation to be a hit. From the reaction, they delivered arguably their best presentation in years.

The two-hour event showed off the thing missing from so many showcases and events of late – namely multiple major AAA titles from name developers, with a few having a big single-player focus.

Admittedly several of these were multi-platform titles like the reveals of BioWare’s “Dragon Age: The Veilguard,” the new “Doom” prequel, more from the “Metal Gear Solid 3” remake, more “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows” gameplay, and the reveal of this year’s “Call of Duty” entry.

On that front, Microsoft confirms “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” will launch October 25th and be available Day One via Game Pass.

Others shown were exclusive titles that have been teased for a while including “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” later this year, the next “Fable” due in 2025, the next “Gears of War,” “State of Decay 3,” “Avowed,” “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl” and the troubled “Perfect Dark” reboot.

Additionally “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024” set a November 19th release, “Life Is Strange: Double Exposure” was announced for October 29th, and “Fallout 76” is getting an update in early 2025 which will let users play as their very own Ghoul character.
