15-year-old actress Julia Butters (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” “The Fabelmans”) is reportedly set to join Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis in the “Freaky Friday” sequel at Disney says The InSneider.
Nisha Ganatra (“Late Night,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) directs the new film which sees Lohan and Curtis reprising their roles from the 2003 body-swap comedy which grossed $160 million worldwide.
Curtis and Lohan have talked of their hopes for a sequel for several years now, but serious talks only began recently. Andrew Gunn and Kristin Burr are producing.
The new script, by Jordan Weiss, is said to bring a multi-generational approach to the story. Butters could therefore be playing Lohan’s daughter and if so, will we see a triple body swap?
According to the outlet, representatives for Disney and Butters had no comment so officially she’s not confirmed as yet.
What’s also not certain is whether the film will get a theatrical release or perhaps go straight to the Disney+ service.
