By Former “Supernatural” and “The Boys” star Jensen Ackles is attached to lead the thriller drama series “Countdown” at Amazon MGM Studios.
Prime Video has handed out a thirteen-episode order for the streaming series which hails from “One Chicago” veteran Derek Haas – it falls under exclusive overall deals both Ackles and Haas have signed with Amazon.
The series begins with a suspicious murder in broad daylight which then leads to LAPD officer Mark Meachum (Ackles) being recruited into a secret task force of undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement to investigate.
As the truth of a more sinister plot comes into focus, the team must overcome conflicting personal agendas to unite and save the city. Haas created the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner.
Haas had a decade-long association with Dick Wolf and his Wolf Entertainment, co-creating and/or executive producing three “Chicago” and two “FBI” series.
Ackles recently guest starred on CBS’ “Tracker” as brother to Colter (Justin Hartley).
