“Euphoria” and “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” actress Hunter Schafer has reportedly been cast in the lead role of Cora in the upcoming live-action “Blade Runner 2099” series at Amazon Prime Video.
Daniel RPK broke the news, indicating the project recently began production in Europe with Schafer joining Michelle Yeoh in the role of Olwyn in the series.
Schafer was most recently in Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Kinds of Kindness” and will shortly be seen in the indie thriller “Cuckoo”.
The new “Blade Runner” unfolds in Los Angeles 2099. Cora has lived her entire life on the run, forced to adopt numerous identities along the way.
To secure a stable future for her brother, she assumes one final identity and is forced to partner with a Blade Runner named Olwen (Yeoh) who’s confronting the end of her life.
The two are pulled into a widening conspiracy that poses an existential threat to a city. Ridley Scott executive produces.
Jonathan Van Tulleken was recently confirmed as director of the limited series while Silka Luisa (“Shining Girls”) is the writer, creator and showrunner.
